McCormick Ranch is located in Sugar Loaf Ridge State Park adjacent to the Hood Mountain watershed. It actively feeds the Santa Rosa Creek, a tributary to the Russian River.
California State Parks brought in Campbell Grading, Inc., to improve erosion and drainage along the roadways. We re-engineered roughly 3.5 miles of road to stop erosion and sediment delivery. We removed shotgun culverts that had been causing massive channeling.
We also excavated the channels to the level of the native streambed, where we installed culverts that would have minimal impacts. When appropriate, we also reversed road grades and installed armored water crossings across the road for protective drainage.
